Join Jennifer and Kaylia for a high spirited discussion about mental illness, the evils of patriarchy, the themes of freedom, choice, and identify, as well as a spontaneous song break!
Also, a Harry Potter and a Star Trek reference! All that and more in this episode. Enjoy!
*** Episode Notes ***
Trigger/Content warning. We discuss self harm, mental illness, suicide, rape, incest, and violence.
Ablest word Alert: We use the word “crazy” and others like it in this discussion. We are aware that those are ablest terms, but in the book and movie, they are used frequently.
Another note…. If the audio sounds choppy at all this time around, we apologize. For some reason during the recording of this episode we had a variety of issues leading us to have a whopping almost two and a half hours of recorded material to sift through and edit down to the hour and twenty-five minute episode you will hopefully enjoy. Yes, I did cut over an hour of material. Trust me, it’s better for it.
Ok… more fun episode notes!
The songs we reference and sample in the episode are Downtown by Petula Clark and End of the World by Skeeter Davis.
We also list the movie as being a 1999 release which is how it is listed on wiki and imdb, but it also is said to have been released in January of 2000.
Lastly, if you want to skip the recap, fast forward to the fifteen minute mark!
